What is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of exercises designed to strengthen the core and improve flexibility. We do small, precise movements with control. For a more in-depth explanation take a look here.
What should I expect from Pilates classes?
Josie teaches Mat Pilates exercises and so the majority of the exercises will be done lying in different positions on the mat. Though Pilates is not considered a high intensity workout, you may feel muscles working that you have never felt before - if it's your first session you may feel them over the next couple of days! Although we focus on the core, there will be strength and flexibility work on the rest of the body too.
How often should I do Pilates?
This is a difficult question and relates directly to what you hope to achieve from doing Pilates. That said, regardless of your goals, once a week practice at a minimum is generally required to gain the benefits.
When: Thursdays at 7.15-8.15pm
Where: Nicholson School of Dance, Digbeth Birmingham
Cost: £10 per session (£8 when you Block Book)
What to bring: A bottle of water
What to wear: Clothing that allows free movement and doesn't restrict your body, eg. t-shirt & leggings/shorts
